Summary

The Charge-M8 Omega 450-4060 is a 60kW DC rapid charger with two CCS2 guns, for workplaces, fleet depots and public sites where the 30kW single-gun Omega would leave vehicles queuing. It runs from a 400V three-phase supply.

Double the output of the 30kW model, and the second gun lets one unit serve two bays, charging sequentially or sharing site demand. OCPP 1.6 over 4G, Ethernet or Wi-Fi connects it to your back office, RFID and a 7 inch touchscreen handle driver access, and the IP55 enclosure suits UK sites. What electrical supply does it need?

It runs from a 400V three-phase AC supply and draws far more than a domestic feed can give, so it needs a dedicated commercial circuit. At 60kW most sites need a DNO application, and often a supply upgrade or a new connection. We recommend a site survey and a DNO enquiry before you order.

How is it different from the 30kW Omega?

It doubles the output to 60kW and has two CCS2 guns rather than one, so vehicles charge roughly twice as fast and a single unit can serve two bays. The 30kW single-gun model is the lower cost route for quieter sites; the 60kW suits higher vehicle turnover. Everything else, from OCPP 1.6 to the 7 inch touchscreen and IP55 enclosure, is shared.

How quickly does 60kW actually charge a car?

At full output it delivers around 60kWh in an hour, roughly 200 miles of range for a typical EV. Real speed depends on the vehicle, its state of charge, battery temperature and how the car tapers near the top of the pack. Many cars accept less than 60kW, and the unit charges two vehicles sequentially or shares output across the guns rather than giving 60kW to each at once.

Which connectors does it have?

Two CCS2 guns, the DC standard on almost every modern EV sold in the UK. There is no CHAdeMO connector, so CHAdeMO-only vehicles such as the older Nissan Leaf cannot use this unit.

Can drivers pay at the charger?

Driver access is by RFID card as standard, with a 7 inch touchscreen for the interface. Because it speaks OCPP 1.6 over 4G, Ethernet or Wi-Fi you can connect it to the back office of your choice for tariffs, app payment and reporting. If you need contactless bank card payment on site, ask us about the Sigma payment kiosk or confirm terminal options before ordering.

What is included and how is it installed?

Every unit includes a 3 year warranty with an ENVEVO Bronze level SLA, a 3 year 4G roaming SIM at 100MB per month, Charge-M8 Omega DC pre-commissioning and delivery. Installation must be carried out by a qualified commercial EV installer, and groundworks and civils should be allowed for at design stage.
