What Sync Energy EV chargers are available?
Four, all 7.4kW single phase. The standard untethered charger (£370) has a Type 2 socket for use with your own cable, and the tethered version (£395) comes with a 7.5m cable attached. The EVLS7MS-01 (£465) is a compact surface-mounted unit with a cleaner, more professional appearance for homes and small commercial sites. The EVLR7MS-01 Link (£470) is the recessed model — an ultra-slim Type 2 socket outlet with a separate control box, so no wiring or box is visible on the wall at all.
How much do Sync Energy chargers cost?
Sync Energy prices start at £370 for the 7.4kW untethered, £395 tethered, £465 for the surface-mounted EVLS7MS-01 and £470 for the recessed Link, all including free UK delivery. At £370 the untethered model is one of the cheapest OZEV-approved smart chargers we stock, alongside the Deta eDock2 at the same price and just above the Evec VEC01 at £312. With the grant applied, an eligible household can take up to £350 off the installed cost.
What is the Sync Energy Link recessed charger?
The EVLR7MS-01 Link (£470) splits the charger in two: a very slim Type 2 socket outlet on the wall, and a separate control box that can be sited out of sight. The result is a charge point with no visible wiring and almost nothing protruding — the option for a new build, a renovation or any property where a wall-mounted box would spoil the frontage. It is worth planning early, because recessed installation is far simpler while the wall is being worked on than as a retrofit.
What are Auto Solar Charging and Tariff Sense?
Auto Solar Charging diverts surplus generation from your own panels into the car instead of exporting it, so you charge on electricity you have already paid for. Tariff Sense manages charging against your energy tariff, shifting sessions into cheaper hours automatically. Between the two, most owners cover the bulk of their charging at off-peak or self-generated rates — which is where the running cost of an EV actually gets low. Read our smart EV charger guide for how solar and tariff charging compare.
Are Sync Energy chargers OZEV grant eligible?
Yes — Sync Energy chargers are OZEV approved and eligible for the EV chargepoint grant, worth up to £350 off a home charger installation for eligible homeowners, tenants and landlords with off-street parking. The grant is claimed by your OZEV-authorised installer and deducted from the bill. Given the £370 starting price, the grant covers a substantial share of a typical installed cost. Which Sync Energy model should I choose?
For a straightforward home installation, the untethered charger at £370 is the value pick and the tethered at £395 the convenient one. Choose the surface-mounted EVLS7MS-01 (£465) if the charger will be visible and you want a tidier, more finished look, and the recessed Link (£470) if you want the charge point to almost disappear into the wall and the building work allows it. All four charge at the same 7.4kW and share the same smart features, so this is a question of installation and appearance rather than performance.
