What VCHRGD EV chargers are available?

Both are smart chargers with app control, Octopus Intelligent Go integration and OZEV approval. The VCHRGD TwentyTwo (£1,550) is the commercial unit — two 22kW Type 2 sockets in one weatherproof aluminium body, with dynamic load balancing, RFID access and Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and optional 4G connectivity, for businesses, fleets and public sites.

The Seven Pro untethered is £390, the tethered version £446 and the TwentyTwo dual socket £1,550, all including free UK delivery. Is the VCHRGD Seven Pro any good at that price?

The specification is the honest answer. At £390 the Seven Pro is a full smart charger — app control, scheduling, energy monitoring, Octopus Intelligent Go integration and OZEV approval — not a cut-down timer switch. What you give up against a £700 charger is finish and design: fewer colour and material options, and a plainer unit on the wall. If the charger is going somewhere visible on the front of a house, brands like Andersen and Simpson & Partners earn their premium. What is the VCHRGD TwentyTwo used for?

It is a dual socket 22kW commercial charger — two vehicles charge at once, or the unit shares power intelligently between them, on either a single or three-phase supply. Dynamic load balancing protects the site supply, RFID access controls who can charge, and the compact weatherproof aluminium body suits car parks and yards. At £1,550 for two charging points it is one of the more cost-effective dual socket units available, and under the Workplace Charging Scheme it counts as two sockets — up to £700 of grant on one unit. Should I choose tethered or untethered?

The tethered Seven Pro (£446) comes with a 7.5m cable permanently attached — longer than most tethered chargers, which typically ship with 5m, and worth the £56 premium if the parking space is not directly beside the charger. The untethered version (£390) has a Type 2 socket and you use your own cable, which suits households with two different EVs or anyone who wants to change cable length later.
