Summary

A current sensor fitted at the main incoming supply. It measures the site's total consumption and reports it to connected Easee chargers, which throttle their charging current to stay within the main fuse. This is the 500A three-phase version, using Rogowski coils rather than CT clamps, for large commercial incomers.

The Easee 80162 Three Phase Equalizer is a high-capacity current sensor fitted at the main incoming supply of a commercial or large-scale three phase site. It measures the total current being drawn and reports that reading to connected Easee chargers, so charging is throttled to stay within the main fuse rating.

What does it do?

The Easee 80162 Three Phase Equalizer measures the total current drawn on each phase of the main incoming supply and sends those readings to the connected Easee chargers. When demand elsewhere on site rises, the chargers reduce their charging current so the main fuse is not exceeded. It measures and reports only — it does not balance or protect any other part of the installation.

Specification

Current Rating: 500A Three Phase, measured using Rogowski coils rather than the CT clamps used on the 100A units, so they fit around conductors far larger than clamps will take

Installation: Wall-mounted near supply panel

Compatibility: Works with Easee Charge & Easee Charge Pro units

Weather-Resistant: Indoor or protected outdoor installation

Purpose: Energy management & load optimisation for multiple EV chargers

Do I need the 500A version or the 100A version?

Go by the rating of the incoming supply, not by how many chargers you are fitting. Up to 100A three phase, use the 80161. The 80162 is for larger commercial incomers rated above that, up to 500A.

What is the practical difference between the two?

The 80161 uses CT clamps, which fit around the smaller conductors of a 100A supply. The 80162 uses Rogowski coils, which are larger and flexible so they can be fitted around the much bigger cables found on a high-rated commercial incomer.

What does it actually do?

It measures how much current the whole site is drawing at the main incoming supply and reports that to the Easee chargers. They then reduce their charging current so the combined load stays within the main fuse rating.

Who installs it?

It connects at the main incoming supply, so it must be fitted by a qualified electrician. On a large commercial supply, agree the coil positions and the isolation plan before the visit is booked.
