We’re happy to accept returns on unwanted items with a 25% restocking fee. Just make sure they’re in like-new condition, unused, and still in the original packaging, ready for resale. The Ratio io8 22kW dual socket with CT metering is a 1.5m lighting bollard that charges two vehicles at up to 22kW each from a three-phase supply. Its ambient LED head doubles as area lighting for the whole car park.

CT metering watches site demand and throttles charging to keep you inside your supply, but it is not MID-certified, so it cannot lawfully be used to bill anyone per kWh. Buy the MID io8 if drivers, tenants or staff pay for what they take. 4G SIM included, OCPP 1.6 throughout.

Can I charge people for their electricity with the CT version?

No. That is the single most important thing to understand before ordering. CT metering exists so the charger can balance load and so you can monitor consumption, but the readings are not MID-certified and therefore hold no legal weight for billing in the UK. This CT model suits free workplace, visitor and fleet charging. The moment a tenant, an employee or a member of the public is invoiced per kWh, you need the MID version of the same charger.

Do I need three-phase power for the 22kW io8?

Yes if you want 22kW at each socket, since that is 3 x 32A on a 400V three-phase supply. Sites with only single-phase should specify the 7.4kW io8 instead, which is the same column and the same lighting at a lower charge rate.

What is the difference between the io7 and the io8?

Both are dual socket charging bollards from Ratio with the same charging options and OCPP 1.6 support. The io7 is the task-lit version, using LED optics with a photocell to put light exactly where it is needed from dusk to dawn. The io8 is the ambient version, lighting the surrounding area for atmosphere as well as safety, and it ships with the 4G SIM included and a configurable cable lock.

Can both sockets be in use together?

Yes. The two Type 2 sockets work at the same time, with CT load balancing dividing the available supply between them and the rest of the site so nothing is overloaded when both bays are busy.

How is it connected and managed?

Ethernet, Wi-Fi and 4G are all supported and the SIM is supplied, so the unit can get online even where there is no site network. It speaks OCPP 1.6, so you can run it on the Ratio App or on any OCPP back office you already use.

Does it qualify for a grant?

Yes. The Workplace Charging Scheme is open to businesses, charities and public sector organisations, covering up to 75% of purchase and installation costs to a cap of 500 pounds per socket and 40 sockets per applicant. A dual socket unit counts as two sockets. Funding is confirmed to 31 March 2027.
