Summary

The Rolec SecuriCharge ROLEC1121B puts two untethered Type 2 sockets and a contactless payment terminal in one 7.4kW unit. Two vehicles charge at once from a single mounting point, with card payment taken at the terminal - the right fit for pay-per-use visitor and customer parking where you want revenue from two bays without doubling the groundwork.

The Payter terminal takes ordinary bank cards, with tariffs and reporting through the OCPP 1.6J back office you choose. Load balancing shares the single-phase supply across both sockets, MID metering measures each session, and the steel case is IP54 and IK10 rated.

How does one payment terminal serve two sockets?

The unit has a single Payter contactless terminal and two Type 2 sockets, and the session a driver pays for is tied to the socket they use. How the socket is selected and how concurrent payments are presented is set by the chargepoint management system you connect over OCPP 1.6J, so ask your platform provider to demonstrate that flow before you commit.

Can both cars charge at the same time?

Yes. Both sockets are live together and dynamic load balancing splits the available supply between them, so neither session trips the incoming feed. Each socket can deliver up to 7.4kW when the supply and the vehicles allow it.

Who handles the card payments?

The terminal is a Payter unit and Rolec state that Payter fees are paid directly to Payter, while tariffs and transaction data sit in the management platform you connect the charger to. Settlement of the money you take therefore depends on which platform you sign up with, so confirm that with them rather than assuming it comes with the hardware.

Is it worth claiming the grant on a dual unit?

Usually yes, because the Workplace Charging Scheme counts each socket separately. A dual unit is two sockets, so up to 1,000 pounds against a single hardware and installation job. The scheme covers 75 per cent of costs, caps at 500 pounds a socket and 40 sockets per applicant, and is funded to 31 March 2027.

What supply does a dual 7.4kW unit need?

Single-phase 230V, but sized for two 32A circuits rather than one. In practice that means your electrician checks the incoming capacity and main fuse before installation. Load balancing protects the supply, though it will share power rather than invent it.

Are cables supplied with it?

No, both sockets are untethered and drivers use their own Type 2 leads. On a paid public bay that is what customers expect, and it avoids two fixed cables lying in a car park where they can be damaged, tripped over or cut off.
