What is the EVEC VECSPRINT?
The EVEC VECSPRINT is a commercial wall-mounted dual socket EV charger designed for workplaces and car parks. It is available in two power ratings: the EDW01 at 7.4kW (£1,070) and the EDW02 at 22kW (£1,320). Both models have two Type 2 sockets, allowing two vehicles to charge simultaneously. The VECSPRINT is a compact, robust unit suited to commercial environments where multiple charge points are needed with minimal infrastructure. It supports OCPP for backend management and load balancing across multiple units.
Does EVEC offer pedestal chargers?
Yes — EVEC has a full range of pedestal-mounted chargers for freestanding installations where wall mounting is not possible, such as open car parks and forecourts. The range includes the ESP01 22kW single socket pedestal (£1,465), ESP02 22kW single socket pedestal (£1,465), EDP01 7.4kW dual socket pedestal (£1,300) and EDP02 22kW dual socket pedestal (£1,615). EVEC also sells the EVDCB01 ground mounting post at £285 and the CB01 crash barrier at £175 for protecting charger installations in commercial environments.
Are EVEC chargers eligible for the WCS grant?
Yes — all EVEC commercial chargers are eligible for the WCS (Workplace Charging Scheme) grant, which provides up to £350 per socket for businesses, charities and public sector organisations installing chargers for employees and fleet vehicles. For a dual socket charger, that means up to £700 off the installation cost. The EVEC home chargers (VEC01, VEC03) are also OZEV approved and eligible for the home EV chargepoint grant. Does EVEC offer payment terminals for public charging?
Yes — EVEC offers two standalone contactless payment terminals that can be paired with their chargers for pay-per-use public charging. The PAY-WALL is a wall-mounted payment box at £1,350 and the PAY-TWR is a freestanding pillar terminal at £1,620. Both include a light sensing controller and PAYTER contactless payment system. For an all-in-one rapid charging solution with built-in payment, the vecBOLT Duo 40kW DC rapid charger with dual CCS/CHAdeMO guns starts from £10,500. Are EVEC EV chargers any good?
EVEC chargers are well regarded for their build quality and value for money, particularly in the commercial charging market. The VEC01 at £312 is one of the cheapest OZEV-approved smart chargers available in the UK, and the VECSPRINT range is widely used in workplace and car park installations. EVEC chargers are designed and assembled in the UK, come with a standard manufacturer warranty, and support OCPP for backend management — a feature usually found on more expensive commercial units. For home use, the VEC01 and VEC03 compete with brands like Indra and VCHRGD on price while offering solid smart charging features including app control, energy monitoring and scheduled charging.
Does the EVEC charger have an app?
Yes — EVEC home chargers (VEC01, VEC03, VEC04 and EDC01 PowerPair) connect to the EVEC app, which lets you start and stop charging sessions, set charge schedules for off-peak electricity rates, monitor energy consumption and view charging history. The commercial VECSPRINT and pedestal chargers use OCPP-based backend management rather than the consumer app, which allows fleet managers and site operators to monitor multiple chargers, set access controls and manage billing across an entire installation.
Are EVEC chargers compatible with Octopus Energy and smart tariffs?
Yes — EVEC smart chargers support scheduled charging via the EVEC app, which means you can set your charger to run during off-peak hours on any time-of-use tariff including Octopus Go, Octopus Intelligent Go and OVO Charge Anytime. You set the charging window manually in the app to match your tariff's cheap rate period (typically midnight to 6am). This is different from chargers like the Ohme which integrate directly with the tariff provider — with EVEC you set the schedule yourself, but the result is the same: cheap overnight charging at 2–7p per mile. See our full range of OVO Charge Anytime compatible chargers or read our smart EV charger guide.
