Can the EDW01 charge two cars at once?

Yes. Both Type 2 sockets are live together at up to 7.4kW each. Because it bolts to a wall rather than standing on a base, it is usually the cheapest way to cover two bays where there is a suitable wall behind them. The EDP01 pedestal is the free-standing equivalent.

Does it need three-phase power?

No, and that is the whole point of the 7.4kW version. It works on a standard single-phase supply, which keeps the electrical work straightforward. The 22kW EDW02 is the three-phase model in the same vecSPRINT wall range.

What happens to charging speed when both sockets are in use?

Dynamic load balancing shares whatever the incoming supply can give between the two sockets, so charging continues safely instead of tripping the feed. On a supply sized for the unit, both cars can take their full rate.

Do drivers need to bring their own cable?

Yes. Both sockets are untethered, which is standard on shared and commercial sites. It suits every vehicle and leaves nothing hanging on the wall in the weather between sessions.

How do I stop the public using a private charger?

RFID cards or app authentication restrict it to staff, residents or fleet drivers. OCPP 1.6J means you can run whichever back office you prefer for reporting, tariffs and pay-to-charge.

Does it qualify for the Workplace Charging Scheme?

Yes for eligible businesses, charities and public sector applicants. The grant covers up to 75% of purchase and installation costs, capped at 500 pounds per socket with a limit of 40 sockets, and a dual socket unit like this counts as two sockets. Funding runs to 31 March 2027.
