The Evec EDW02 vecSPRINT puts two untethered Type 2 sockets at up to 22kW each into a wall-mounted housing, which is the fastest AC charging you can give two bays without going to DC or a pedestal. The full rate on both sockets needs a 400V three-phase supply.

What supply does the EDW02 need?

A 400V three-phase supply for the full 22kW on each socket. That is what separates it from the EDW01, the 7.4kW single-phase model in the same vecSPRINT wall range. If three-phase is not already on site, price up bringing it in before you commit.

How quickly will it charge a car?

A 22kW socket is good for roughly 80 to 100 miles of range per hour, but only where the vehicle can accept 22kW on AC. Many EVs are held to 7.4kW or 11kW by their own onboard charger and will charge at that rate instead.

Can both bays run at full power together?

That comes down to the capacity of the incoming supply rather than the charger. Load balancing shares what is available between the two sockets automatically, so the unit stays inside the feed rather than tripping it.

Is a charging cable supplied?

No. Both sockets take the driver's own Type 2 lead. Untethered is the norm on commercial sites because it works with every vehicle and leaves nothing exposed on the wall between charges.

Wall mounted or pedestal?

This one fixes to a wall, so there is no base to pour and no post to protect, which usually makes it the quicker install where bays sit against a building. Where there is no suitable wall, the EDP02-N pedestal is the equivalent 22kW dual socket unit.

How much grant funding is available?

Through the Workplace Charging Scheme, up to 75% of purchase and installation costs, capped at 500 pounds per socket and 40 sockets per applicant. Because the EDW02 has two sockets it can attract up to 1000 pounds. The scheme is funded to 31 March 2027.
