We’re happy to accept returns on unwanted items with a 25% restocking fee. Just make sure they’re in like-new condition, unused, and still in the original packaging, ready for resale. Does the Evec VEC01 come with a charging cable?

No. The VEC01 is untethered, so it has a Type 2 socket and you use your own portable cable, usually the one supplied with the car. It suits Type 1 and Type 2 vehicles as long as you have the matching lead.

What electrical supply does it need?

A standard single-phase domestic supply is all that is required. The output can be set to 3.7kW or 7.4kW, so it can be turned down if your consumer unit or main fuse will not support the full 32A.

How fast will it charge my car?

At 7.4kW it adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour. Your car's onboard AC charger sets the real ceiling, so an EV limited to 3.6kW will charge at that rate whatever the wall unit can deliver.

Do I need an earth rod fitted?

No. PEN fault protection is built in, so the installer does not need to drive an earth rod into the ground. That usually makes the installation quicker and cheaper.

Can I charge on a cheap overnight tariff?

Yes. The charger connects over Wi-Fi and the evec app lets you schedule charging into off-peak hours, so you can run it on an EV tariff overnight rather than at daytime rates.

Can I get a grant towards it?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant gives up to 350 pounds off for people living in flats or rented homes with off-street parking, and it must be claimed through an OZEV-authorised installer. Owner-occupiers of houses are not eligible.
