We’re happy to accept returns on unwanted items with a 25% restocking fee. Just make sure they’re in like-new condition, unused, and still in the original packaging, ready for resale. The buyer covers the return shipping, and returns should be made within 14 days of delivery. Please note that some specially imported or custom-made items can’t be returned. Is the cable included with the Evec VEC03?

Yes. The VEC03 is tethered, so a 5m Type 2 cable is permanently fitted to the unit and clips into a holster when not in use. You never need to carry a lead in the boot, but it does mean the charger only suits vehicles with a Type 2 inlet.

Is 5m of cable long enough?

For most driveways it is. Measure from where the charger will sit on the wall to the car's charging flap on the side you normally park, and allow slack for the run down the wall. If the bay is further away, the untethered VEC01 lets you use a longer lead of your own.

How fast will it charge?

At 7.4kW it adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour. The car's onboard AC charger sets the real ceiling though, so a plug-in hybrid limited to 3.6kW will draw that much no matter what the wall unit is rated for.

What electrical supply does it need?

A standard single-phase domestic supply. Output is adjustable between 3.7kW and 7.4kW and the current can be turned down from 32A, so it can be set to fit within the main fuse and consumer unit you already have.

Can I charge from my solar panels?

Yes. The VEC03 supports solar integration and an eco mode, so where you have PV on the roof the charger can be set to use your own generation rather than pulling everything from the grid.

Can I get a grant towards it?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant gives up to 350 pounds off for people living in flats or rented homes with off-street parking, and it must be claimed through an OZEV-authorised installer. Owner-occupiers of houses are not eligible.
