Will I need to buy a charging cable?

Only if your car did not come with one, which is unusual. The unit is socket-only, which keeps the wall tidy and means you can replace or upgrade the lead later without touching the charger itself.

How do I charge on the cheap overnight rate?

Set a schedule in the Sync Energy app so the charger only draws power inside your tariff's off-peak window. The same app shows session history and how much energy each charge used.

What speed will I actually get?

Around 25 to 30 miles of range per hour is typical at 7.4kW. The limit is often the car rather than the charge point, since an EV with a 3.6kW onboard AC charger cannot take any more than that.

What is the CT clamp for?

It clips around the incoming supply so the charger can see total household demand and wind its own current down when the house is drawing heavily. That dynamic load balancing is what keeps the main fuse from being overloaded on a busy evening.

What safety protection is built in?

Integrated PEN fault protection guards against a lost supply neutral, and 6mA DC fault detection covers the DC leakage a standard household RCD cannot see. Your installer will confirm what else the circuit needs on site.

Can I get help with the cost?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant offers up to 350 pounds, but only to people living in flats or rented properties with off-street parking. It is not open to owner-occupiers of houses, and it is claimed by an OZEV-authorised installer.
