Should I choose the 5.5m or the 8.5m cable?

Measure from where the charger will be fitted to your car's charging port, with the car parked as it normally would be, and allow some slack. 5.5m suits most driveways where the charge point sits close to the parking space. Choose 8.5m if you park nose-in and nose-out, have a longer driveway, or want to reach a second car.

How fast will it charge my car?

At 7kW it adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour on most EVs. Your car's onboard AC charger sets the real limit, so a vehicle capped at 3.6kW will charge at that speed no matter which unit is fitted.

Why choose tethered rather than untethered?

A tethered unit has the cable permanently attached, so you park and plug in with nothing to unpack or carry. Untethered is tidier to look at and lets you change cable length later, but you handle a heavy cable every time. Most people charging daily on the same driveway prefer tethered.

Which smart tariffs does it work with?

The Quartz works with Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime, so charging shifts automatically to cheap off-peak overnight rates. It is solar compatible as well if you have panels.

Can I get a grant towards it?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant gives up to 350 pounds off for people living in flats or in rented homes with off-street parking. Owner-occupiers of houses are not eligible. You must use an OZEV-authorised installer and claim through them.

What warranty does it come with?

Andersen cover all their charge points with a 7-year warranty, one of the longest in the UK market. Registering the charger after installation activates it.
