Summary

The Andersen A2 22kW is the three-phase version of Andersen's hidden-cable charge point, with a fixed 5.5m Type 2 lead that stows inside the body. It suits three-phase homes, workplaces and multi-EV households. Most UK houses are single phase - without three phase it cannot deliver 22kW, so check first.

Do I need a three-phase supply?

Yes. The A2 22kW only delivers its full output from a three-phase electricity supply, and the vast majority of UK homes are single phase. Confirm what you have with your installer before ordering, because buying 22kW without three phase is the single most common reason these units come back.

Will my car actually use 22kW?

Only if its onboard AC charger is rated for it, and most EVs are not. Many top out at 7.4kW or 11kW on AC, so that is the speed you would see. Check your car's AC charging rate first, and consider the A2 7kW if it is capped at 7.4kW.

Where does the cable go between charges?

Inside the charge point. The A2 keeps its full 5.5m tethered lead hidden behind the front panel, so nothing is left hanging on the wall. Andersen only offer the 22kW A2 with a 5.5m cable.

Does it work with Intelligent Octopus Go or OVO Charge Anytime?

No. Those tariff integrations apply to Andersen's 7kW models rather than the 22kW units. You can still schedule charging in the Andersen app so it runs during whatever off-peak window your tariff offers.

Can I get help with the cost?

Homes in flats or rented property with off-street parking can claim the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant of up to 350 pounds through an OZEV-authorised installer. Businesses fitting chargers for staff or fleets apply under the Workplace Charging Scheme instead.

What warranty does the A2 come with?

Seven years on the charge point, the same across the whole Andersen range and one of the longest in the UK. Register the unit after installation to activate the cover.
