Where does the cable go when I am not charging?

Inside the unit. The A2 stores its whole tethered lead behind the front panel, so between charges there is nothing hanging off the wall or coiled on the ground. That hidden cable is the main reason people step up from the Quartz.

Should I choose the 5.5m or the 8.5m cable?

Measure from the planned wall position to your car's charging port with the car parked as it normally would be, and allow slack. 5.5m covers most driveways. Go for 8.5m if you park either way round, have a longer drive, or want to reach a second car.

How fast will it charge my car?

At 7kW it adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour on most EVs. The car's onboard AC charger sets the ceiling, so an EV limited to 3.6kW will charge at that rate whatever charge point is on the wall.

Which smart tariffs does it work with?

The A2 7kW works with Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime, so charging moves automatically to cheap off-peak overnight rates. It is solar compatible too if you have panels.

Can I get a grant towards it?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant is worth up to 350 pounds and is open to people living in flats or in rented property with off-street parking. Homeowners in houses are not eligible. Claims are made through an OZEV-authorised installer.

What warranty does the A2 come with?

Seven years, the same as every Andersen charge point and among the longest offered in the UK. It is activated by registering the unit once it has been installed.
