What is the difference between the A3 and the A2?

Both hide the cable inside the unit and take the same interchangeable front panels. The A2 is the larger charge point and offers a 5.5m or 8.5m lead. The A3 comes with 5.5m only and costs less, which makes it the usual pick for a standard driveway.

Is a 5.5m cable long enough?

On most driveways yes, provided the charger is mounted near where the car parks. Measure from the planned wall position to the car's charging socket and allow slack. Andersen only supply the A3 with 5.5m, so if you need more reach the A2 with an 8.5m lead is the alternative.

How fast will it charge my car?

7kW adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour on most EVs. The car's onboard AC charger sets the ceiling, so an EV limited to 3.6kW charges at that rate no matter which unit is on the wall.

Which smart tariffs does it work with?

The A3 works with Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime, moving charging to cheap off-peak overnight rates automatically. It is solar compatible as well if you have panels.

Can I get a grant towards it?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant is worth up to 350 pounds for people in flats or rented homes with off-street parking, and must be claimed through an OZEV-authorised installer. Homeowners living in houses are not eligible.

What warranty does the A3 come with?

Seven years, matching every other Andersen charge point. Andersen apply the full term when the unit is fitted by Andersen or an approved affiliate installer and registered afterwards.
