Compatible chargersEasee Charge and Easee Charge Pro
FunctionMeasures the property's total current draw and reports it to the charger so charging is throttled to stay within the main fuse
InstallationFitted at the main incoming supply near the distribution board, by a qualified electrician

Summary

A current sensor fitted at the property's main incoming supply. It measures total consumption and reports it to a connected Easee charger, which then throttles its charging current so the site stays within its main fuse. This is the three-phase version for supplies up to 100A, using CT clamps on the incoming conductors.

The Easee 80161 Three Phase Equalizer is a current sensor fitted at the main incoming supply of a three phase property. It measures the total current being drawn and reports that reading to a connected Easee charger, so charging is throttled to stay within the main fuse rating.

What does it do?

The Easee 80161 Three Phase Equalizer measures the total current drawn on each phase of the main incoming supply and sends those readings to the connected Easee charger. When demand elsewhere on site rises, the charger reduces its own charging current so the main fuse is not exceeded. It measures and reports only — it does not balance or protect any other part of the installation.

Specification

Current Rating: 100A Three Phase, measured using CT clamps

Installation: Wall-mounted near supply panel

Compatibility: Works with Easee Charge & Easee Charge Pro units

Weather-Resistant: Indoor or protected outdoor installation

Purpose: Energy management & load optimisation for EV chargers

What does the Equalizer actually do?

It measures how much current the whole property is drawing at the main incoming supply and sends that reading to the Easee charger. The charger then reduces its own charging current so the combined load stays within the main fuse rating.

Do I need this one or the 500A version?

Go by the rating of the incoming supply. This 80161 is the 100A three phase version and uses CT clamps, which suits most three phase homes, workplaces and small commercial sites. The 80162 is the 500A version for much larger commercial incomers.

Is there a single phase version?

Yes. The 90500UK is the 100A single phase Equalizer. Check whether your incoming supply is single or three phase before ordering, as the two are not interchangeable.

Who installs it?

It connects at the main incoming supply, so it must be fitted by a qualified electrician, normally at the same visit as the charger.
