The GARO GS8EV40PME is a ready-assembled consumer unit for dedicated electric vehicle charging circuits. It combines a 40A Type A RCBO, PME fault detection and surge protection in an 8-way metal enclosure rated IP40, giving the charging circuit its own correctly rated protection without rebuilding an existing board.

PME fault detection is the reason this unit is specified on a TN-C-S supply: it monitors the supply voltage and disconnects the vehicle from the live conductors and from protective earth if that voltage moves outside the permitted range, which is the approach BS 7671 Regulation 722.411.4.1 offers for EV charging installations.

40A Type A RCBO – The main protective device for the charging circuit, rated 40A at 230V AC, suitable for chargers that provide their own DC leakage detection.

PME Fault Detection – Disconnects the charging circuit from the live conductors and protective earth if the supply voltage leaves the 213V to 253V window, with a four second response, and only recloses once the voltage returns to range.

Integrated Surge Protection – Surge protection is built into the assembly, helping protect the charger and connected equipment from transient overvoltages.

8 Way Metal Enclosure – Supplied fully populated with no free ways, in a robust metal enclosure measuring 235 x 197 x 110mm (H x W x D).
