Should I choose the 5m or the 7.5m cable?

Measure from where the charger will be mounted to where the car's charge port sits when parked, then allow slack so the cable is not pulled tight. 5m suits a charger close to the parking space; 7.5m is the safer choice on a longer drive, if the car parks nose-in, or if the charge port is on the far side. The two versions are otherwise identical.

What is the difference between this and the untethered MX7?

This version has the Type 2 cable permanently attached, so you plug straight in rather than fetching a cable. The untethered version has a socket and takes your own cable, which keeps the unit tidier and lets you change cable length later. The tethered model is also rated IP65 against IP54 on the socket version.

How long does it take to charge a car?

At 7.4kW it adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour, so a typical 60kWh battery charges overnight in about 8 hours. If your car's onboard AC charger is limited to 3.7kW it takes around twice as long, because the vehicle sets the ceiling.

What does V2G hardware ready mean?

The hardware is built to support vehicle-to-grid energy flows, where a compatible car can export stored energy back to the grid, and it supports ISO 15118 with Autocharge. Whether you can actually use V2G depends on your vehicle and your energy supplier's tariff, so treat it as future readiness rather than something available on day one.

Can I use it with solar panels?

Yes. The MX7 supports solar surplus charging, so it can use generation you would otherwise export rather than importing from the grid. Your installer needs to configure it against your home's metering for surplus charging to work.

What warranty does it have and who can install it?

Up to 5 years, subject to registering the product online. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician competent in EV charge point work, on a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit.
