Which cable length should I order?

The Smart LUX is tethered and comes as either a 6.5m or a 10m Type 2 cable, chosen at checkout. Measure from where the unit will be fixed to the car's charge port with the car parked as it normally would be, then allow some slack. The 10m version is the safer pick if the charge port ends up on the far side of the car.

What does the LUX add over the Indra Smart PRO?

Chiefly size and sealing. The LUX is 78mm deep against roughly 130mm for the PRO, it is rated IP67 rather than IP65, and it uses turbine status lights instead of a membrane panel. Indra also list it as compatible with over 1000 UK tariffs. Both units share the same 7.4kW output, PEN fault protection and 3 year warranty.

Does it work with my smart tariff?

Yes for the two most common ones. It supports Octopus Intelligent Go and OVO Charge Anytime, and Indra list compatibility with more than a thousand UK tariffs, so charging shifts automatically into the cheap overnight window.

Can it charge from my solar panels?

It can. Solar integration diverts excess generation into the car rather than exporting it, which is worth having if your panels regularly produce more than the house uses during the day.

What are the turbine lights for?

They give a clear visual indication of charging status on the front of the unit, so you can see at a glance from the window whether the car is charging without unlocking your phone and opening the app.

Is the OZEV grant available on this charger?

Only for people living in flats or rented homes with off-street parking. That is the current scope of the EV Chargepoint Grant, worth up to 350 pounds, and the claim is made by an OZEV-authorised installer rather than by you directly.
