We’re happy to accept returns on unwanted items with a 25% restocking fee. Just make sure they’re in like-new condition, unused, and still in the original packaging, ready for resale. Summary

The ePod is Ohme's compact untethered charger. At 230 by 140 by 100mm it is one of the smaller 7.4kW units you can put on a wall, and the Type 2 socket means you use your own cable and keep it in the car rather than leaving a lead hanging outside.

Linked to Intelligent Octopus Go or OVO Charge Anytime it charges during the cheapest half-hourly slots, and you can set a target battery percentage and a maximum price per kWh. Front buttons handle a max boost without opening the app.

Do I need to supply the charging cable?

Yes. The ePod has a Type 2 socket rather than a fixed lead, so you plug in your own cable. Most EVs are delivered with one, and buying separately lets you pick the exact length instead of accepting whatever is attached.

What makes it good for smart tariffs?

Ohme built the ePod around them. Connect it to Intelligent Octopus Go or OVO Charge Anytime, tell the app when you need the car ready, and it picks the cheapest half-hourly periods between now and then rather than charging the moment you plug in.

Can I stop it charging when electricity is expensive?

Yes. The app lets you set a maximum price per kWh alongside a target battery percentage, so the ePod will wait rather than charge at a rate you did not want to pay.

What if my Wi-Fi does not reach the driveway?

It does not use Wi-Fi. A multi-network 4G SIM is built into the unit, so the smart features work wherever the charger is mounted as long as there is mobile coverage.

How fast will it charge?

7.4kW, which puts back roughly 25 to 30 miles of range an hour on most cars. Some EVs cap their AC charging lower than that, and where they do it is the car setting the pace rather than the ePod.

Does it qualify for the OZEV grant?

The EV Chargepoint Grant applies to flats and rented homes with off-street parking only, so most homeowners fall outside the scheme. If you do qualify, an OZEV-authorised installer handles the claim for you.
