Can both sockets be used at once?

Yes. Each socket is rated up to 7.4kW and the pedestal is designed to run both together, so two vehicles charge side by side. What each car actually draws still depends on its own onboard charger and on any load balancing limit your installer sets for the incoming supply.

Does a dual socket unit count as two sockets for the Workplace Charging Scheme?

It does. The scheme covers up to 75 per cent of purchase and installation costs at 500 pounds per socket, so a dual pedestal can attract up to 1,000 pounds. Applicants are capped at 40 sockets in total and funding is confirmed to 31 March 2027.

What electrical supply does it need?

A single-phase 230V AC supply. Only the 22kW BasicCharge models need three phase. Your installer will check the incoming capacity can support two 32A outlets, which is where the built-in load balancing earns its keep.

Do the sockets come with cables?

No. Both are untethered Type 2 outlets and drivers plug in their own lead. That keeps the pedestal usable by every Type 2 vehicle and leaves nothing coiled on the ground to be tripped over or damaged.

How does BasicCharge differ from Rolec's other commercial units?

It is the stripped-back option. There is no display and no card reader, so charging is free at the point of use with access controlled by RFID or app. If you need drivers to pay at the unit itself, look further up the Rolec range.

Is one dual pedestal better than two single ones?

Usually it is cheaper. One base, one set of groundwork and one supply run serve two bays, and it takes up less room in the car park. Two separate pedestals make more sense when the bays are far apart or you want to phase the installation.
