Can both sockets deliver 22kW at the same time?

Both are rated to 22kW and are designed to run together, but the pedestal needs a three-phase 400V supply with enough capacity behind it. Two cars drawing 22kW each is 44kW, so your installer will either size the feed for it or use the built-in load balancing to share what the site has.

How many sockets does this count as for the Workplace Charging Scheme?

Two. Each socket attracts up to 75 per cent of purchase and installation costs to a ceiling of 500 pounds, so one ROLEC0223 can be worth up to 1,000 pounds off the bill. The 40 socket limit applies per applicant and funding is confirmed to 31 March 2027.

Which cars can actually use the full 22kW?

Only those with a three-phase onboard AC charger. Plenty of EVs are capped at 7.4kW or 11kW on AC and will draw that instead. Both sockets still work with every Type 2 vehicle, so a mixed fleet is no problem, the faster cars simply finish sooner.

Are charging cables provided?

No. Both outlets are untethered Type 2 sockets and drivers use their own leads. On a depot or shared car park that is the sensible arrangement, because one pedestal then serves every Type 2 vehicle and nothing is left coiled outdoors.

Why pick BasicCharge rather than a Rolec unit with a screen?

Because most sites do not need one. BasicCharge leaves out the display and the card terminal and keeps what matters for a managed site - RFID or app access, OCPP connectivity and MID metering. It is the workhorse choice when charging is provided rather than sold.

Would two single 22kW pedestals be better?

Only if the bays are far apart or you want to install in stages. One dual pedestal shares a base, a supply run and one lot of civils across two bays, which is usually cheaper and tidier, and it gives you a single connection point to your back office.
