We’re happy to accept returns on unwanted items with a 25% restocking fee. Just make sure they’re in like-new condition, unused, and still in the original packaging, ready for resale. The buyer covers the return shipping, and returns should be made within 14 days of delivery. Please note that some specially imported or custom-made items can’t be returned. Where can the pedestal actually go?

Anywhere on the drive or in the garden with a firm base the installer can bolt the plate down to, within reach of a supply cable run back to the consumer unit. Site it so the socket faces the car and the pedestal is clear of turning wheels and opening doors. Your installer will dig and duct the cable run.

Why choose freestanding over a wall unit?

Because there is no suitable wall. Detached parking bays, gardens, long driveways, listed frontages and rendered or timber elevations that will not take fixings all rule out wall mounting. The pedestal solves that without changing the charger itself.

Do I need to buy a cable?

Yes, unless the car came with one. This is the socket-only build, and the Type 2 outlet locks so the lead cannot be unplugged while a session is running.

How long does a full charge take?

At 7.4kW you gain around 25 to 30 miles of range an hour, so most cars fill overnight. The vehicle has the final say, because its onboard AC charger caps how much it can take in.

Will it survive standing out in the open?

It is rated IP56 against dust and jets of water and IK10 against impact, a step up from the IP54 wall units and appropriate for something standing unprotected on a driveway all year.

Am I eligible for the chargepoint grant?

Only households in flats or rented properties with off-street parking can claim the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant, which is worth up to 350 pounds. Homeowners in houses are outside the scheme. Claims go through an OZEV-authorised installer.
