We’re happy to accept returns on unwanted items with a 25% restocking fee. Just make sure they’re in like-new condition, unused, and still in the original packaging, ready for resale. The buyer covers the return shipping, and returns should be made within 14 days of delivery. Please note that some specially imported or custom-made items can’t be returned. Does this unit detect DC fault currents?

Yes. It detects residual currents of 30mA AC and 6mA DC. Check the charger manufacturer's instructions to confirm what protection the charger itself needs.

Is it suitable for a 7kW home charger?

A 7.4kW single-phase charger draws 32A, which is within the 40A RCBO rating. The installing electrician must confirm the protective device and cable size for the specific installation.

What does the surge protection device do?

The Type 2 SPD helps protect the charger and its electronics from transient overvoltages, such as those caused by lightning or switching on the supply network.

Why a C curve RCBO?

C curve devices tolerate higher inrush currents than B curve devices before tripping. WCED also make a B curve version of this unit, the WMRC40BSP.

Can it be fitted outdoors?

This is a metal unit for indoor installation. WCED offer IP65 weatherproof versions for outdoor locations.

Who should install it?

A qualified electrician, in line with BS 7671 and the charger manufacturer's installation instructions.
